1. Tuberculosis is a top infectious disease killer worldwide. Over 95 percent of tuberculosis cases and deaths are in low- and middle-income countries.

2. Almost half of child labour victims (about 80 million) work in hazardous child labour; more than one-quarter of all hazardous child labour is done by children less than 12 years old (19 million). These children are forced to do this, frequently to help support household incomes, putting their health, safety, and education at risk.

3. Hopeful Trend: Despite challenges, the global middle class is growing, with millions lifted out of poverty in Asia and Africa over the past decade. 

4. Some 880 million people live in slums, and one projection suggests this could grow to 1.2 billion people living in slums by 2030.

5. There is more than enough food produced in the world to feed everyone on the planet, and yet over half a billion people still go to bed hungry each night.
